Creative classes and workshops for the summer

Summer is just around the corner and it is a perfect time to sign up for fun classes. The city has a lot to offer depending on where your interests lie. Below is a list of some workshops happening in the city this summer.

Art Academy London

The Art Academy London is offering various weekend art courses including one on Abstract Painting where you’ll be guided on several different approaches including abstract images using geometry, exploring process-based painting and playing with expressive gestural marks, and gain understanding of the fundamentals of painting, including colour, tone and composition. Other courses include Introduction to Oil Painting, Life Painting, Portrait Painting Masterclass and a Sunday mix course which will be taking place on four consecutive Sunday mornings and will explore a wide variety of artistic methods and media and where you’ll be encouraged to work across the different disciplines of painting, sculpture, drawing and printmaking.

Asian Cooking Class at Oriental Food

If you’re looking for foodie activities in to take part in, this cooking class is perfect for you. Learn from an expert how to make dumplings that are authentic and delicious from scratch. The dumplings class will begin with a short introduction to the world of dim sum and Asian — you will learn everything from the history of dumpling making to modern trends while being served tea throughput the class.

Pottery Workshop at Ceramic Studio

During this beginner-friendly class, you’ll be taught all the tips and tricks needed to transform handmade clay into pottery pieces. An expert guide will demonstrate hand-building techniques using coils and slabs before covering wheel throwing as you prepare to get hands-on with your clay. At the end of the class, your pottery pieces will be taken away to be biscuit fired and glazed and will be ready to collect after three weeks to display at home or give away as handmade gifts. Clay, aprons and tools will be provided during the class.

Aromatherapy Candle Making Class at Forest London

Learn to make your own beautiful candle at this craft class and learn about the calming effects of aromatherapy oils. Guided by a teacher, you’ll begin your candle making class by learning about the different benefits and healing therapies of a range of essential oils. This cocktail making class in Nine Elms will teach you how to make three crowd-pleasing cocktails alongside some of the best bartenders in London. It is perfect for beginners and you’ll be given a cocktail on arrival along with all the ingredients and equipment to make three signature cocktails to enjoy.
